CCD Monthly                                                       May 2026

Foreword:

Greetings! As China Christian Daily enters a new stage this year, we hope this monthly newsletter will continue to serve as a window into the life, history, and global connections of the church in China.

As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to reshape the world, one Chinese Christian's journey reflects how the church is beginning to engage this new frontier. While early concerns centered on authenticity, discernment, and overreliance on technology, Brother Thomas came to see AI as a valuable tool for training, communication, and ministry support. Describing himself as a "digital missionary," he now equips pastors, missionaries, and professionals to use AI in advancing the Great Commission. His story reflects a growing conversation within the church about how emerging technologies can be used wisely and faithfully in ministry.

Other stories this month offer perspectives on the church from both local and global contexts. Dr. Gina Zurlo reflects on women in world Christianity and the challenges of measuring the size of China's church. The story of "Mr. Lu" highlights the resilience of one of Tibet's oldest Catholic communities in Yanjing, where believers  have persevered in their faith within a predominantly Tibetan Buddhist region.

We also feature the remarkable story of a scholar who endured years in a Soviet gulag for preserving Yiddish songs that documented the Holocaust, as well as a reposted article on the opening of the Patmos Bible Summit, where 250 Christian leaders and thinkers gathered to reflect on contemporary spiritual realities.
